No Suction | How to Videos | DeepClean/ProHeat® Essential

Does your DeepClean Essential have low or no suction? There are two places to check: at the base of the unit and the tool attachment.

  • To check the suction at the base of the unit, on the floor, first check to see if the dial is set to floor cleaning
    • If it isn’t, turn the dial to floor cleaning to get suction at the floor
  • Next, turn the machine off and remove the tank to check for cracks
    • When the tank is damaged suction will be reduced and the tank will need to be replaced.  Order a new genuine BISSELL tank on BISSELL.com
  • Low suction can also be caused due to cracks or clogs in the floor nozzle
  • Get rid of any debris in the nozzle by removing it and then rinsing in the sink. If you see any cracks, the nozzle can be replaced by ordering online or visiting a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center.
  • If the tank lid is not properly attached, you will lose suction
    • Gently lift the tank up by the handle. If you are able to lift the entire tank by the handle, it is attached correctly.  If the top separates from the bottom, the tank is not latched
  • Check to see if the collection water tank outside the bladder is full. The float will activate to cut off suction. Empty the collection tank and test for suction.
  • Make sure the tank is correctly placed onto the base of the machine
    • Recline the machine handle, set the tank on the base and push down firmly to ensure a secure connection
  • Check the float flap door in the tank to see if it is activating too early when you turn the machine on.  If so, a new float door will be needed
  • Another reason for reduced suction may be that the motor duct gasket screen is covered with debris
    • Remove the debris and test your machine again
  • If there is still no suction at this time, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center.
If the machine has suction at the floor but not at the hose, and you have tried all the steps above, there are a few things other things to check.
  • The hose will not suction if the upright handle is reclined
    • Put the machine back in the upright position and then test for suction at the end of the hose
  • Make sure the dial is set to tools
    • Low suction will occur if the dial is set to floor cleaning while using an attachment
If there is still no suction at this time, please take your DeepClean Essential to a BISSELL Authorized Service Center.
