My PowerGlide® (1305 & 1306 models) brush will not spin. What do I check?

Answer:
  • If the brush is not turning, remove the seven (7) screws in the brush cover using a Phillips screwdriver (see picture below). Lift up and remove the brush cover to access the brush roll. Clean any hair, strings, or debris from the brush and motor pulley area.
  • Check the belt to make sure it is not broken or stretched out. If so a new belt will be needed.
  • PowerGlide 1305 brush cover
  • If everything appears in tact (the brush and belt are fine) put everything back together and reset the brush roll - it is possible if the vacuum becomes clogged or something large was suctioned up it will turn the brush roll off to prevent further damage. Follow these steps to reset the brush roll:
    • Turn the brush roll switch to the off position
    • Turn the vacuum off
    • Unplug the vacuum from the outlet.
    • Locate the red reset button on the back lower right of the vacuum (opposite side of the hose)
    • Pres the red button to reset.
    • Plug the vacuum and turn it on.
    • Turn the brush roll switch on
    • Recline the vacuum and see if the brush has started to rotate.
    • 1305 Brush roll reset

If the brush is still not turning, please take the machine to a BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have a Quality Technician inspect the machine. To locate one nearby, click here: http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/
