What can I check? Answer: How long have you waited for the machine to warm up before testing for steam? The indicator light will illuminate red when the Steam Ready is plugged in. After about 20 seconds, the light will illuminate green when the Steam Ready is ready to use. Does the trigger have tension? If there is no tension, the handle may be assembled improperly... Unplug the machine and reassemble the handle. The loop of the handle should be facing towards the back of the machine on the power cord side. The handle must also be locked and screwed in tightly. If there is tension; proceed to the next step.... Make sure the foot is properly installed. Remove the foot and re-install and screw tightly with the screw Check the water tank by removing it and looking it over to see if there are any cracks or leaks on the tank itself. They may be difficult to see, so be sure to inspect the tank in a well-lit area or room. Also, make sure there is water in the tank to see if there is any dripping coming from any place. If there are cracks, a new tank will be needed. After inspecting the tank, check the cap and insert to ensure it is not cracked. if so, it will also need to be replaced. Check the black rubber "gasket" on the end of the insert. Ensure it is not ripped, torn or missing. Then push up on the X-valve over the sink to see if water comes out. (The valve is set deep into the insert). iI there is an issue, a new insert will be needed. Is the water tank seated properly in the machine with no gaps? You will hear it "click" into place once it is seated properly. Is the Ready Light on? The indicator light will illuminate red when the Steam Ready is plugged in. After about 20 seconds, the light will illuminate green with the Steam Ready is ready to use. Did the light change from red to green? If the light did not change to green or illuminate red when plugged in... Make sure the power cord is plugged into a functioning outlet. Press and hold the trigger, it may take up to 2 minutes to steam initially. Check for steam with the tank off the unit by pouring a small amount of cold water into the hole where the tank connects to the machine. Then press and hold the trigger for up to 2 minutes. If there is no steam when pouring cold water into the tank hole on the machine. Remove the mop-head and check for steam at the spray tip by taking off the foot of the machine and aiming the spray end in the sink or tub. Do not put any body parts near the end of the machine when checking for steam. If there is no steam with the mop-head removed, unplug the machine and let it sit for at least 5 minutes to cool. Clean the spray tip with a paperclip. With a paperclip, clear out the spray tip. Pour white vinegar through the top of the mop head to clear the clog and then clear the vinegar out of the foot by running warm water through it. DO NOT run vinegar through the machine, it will damage the internal components of the machine. Reattach the mop head and attempt to spray into the sink or tub again. Again point away from body parts.
