1. Take a look at your SmartMix® dial and see if it’s working correctly. The SmartMix dial may have been forced too far counter-clockwise, causing the dial to stop between “Normal” and “Water Only/Water Rinse”.
a. If the dial doesn’t work correctly, force the dial clockwise past “Hi-Traffic.” This should reset the dial. If the dial spins 360 degrees without stopping, please take your carpet cleaner to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://www.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers/ or by calling 1-800-237-7691 and choosing option #1, available 24 hours a day.
b. If the dial does work, go to step 2.
2. If your SmartMix dial is working, try these steps:
a. Check if the o-ring in the SmartMix Cap is seated right. (Some o-rings are detachable and need to fit over the straw; others are molded to the cap). Push the x-valve inside the cap to see if liquid will come out. If no liquid comes out, can replace the cap by clicking here: http://www.bissell.com/smartmix-cap-assembly2101795?productid=79011
b. Check for liquid in the SmartMix bottle. If the neck on the SmartMix bottle is undersized, the cap won’t make proper contact with the unit and the SmartMix bottle will need to be replaced. You can do so by clicking here: http://www.bissell.com/smartmix-bottle-includes-cap2101785?productid=79011
c. Check for the black or red tank gasket on the SmartMix Bottle Cap. If the gasket is lodged in base, reattach it by pushing it back over the lip. If it’s lost, you can get one here: http://www.bissell.com/autoload-gasket2036679?productid=790011
d. Set the SmartMix dial to Water Only. With the Tank- in-Tank® in the machine (full of water) and the SmartMix bottle out of the unit (filled with cleaning formula or water), turn the unit on, hold the trigger and flip the SmartMix dial from “Water Only/Water Rinse” to “High Traffic” 4 times. Stop on High Traffic. Firmly install the SmartMix bottle and continue to hold the trigger for 1 minute.
e. If the cleaner stopped spraying, turn off the unit, hold the trigger for 30 seconds, turn unit back on, and it should spray again. You should see bubbles and smell the shampoo. If you can’t, please take your carpet cleaner to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://www.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers/ or by calling 1-800-237-7691 and choosing option #1, available 24 hours a day.
Note: If your machine is still not releasing shampoo and you are in the middle of cleaning, replace the shampoo in the SmartMix bottle with water, set SmartMix dial on “Water Only/Water Rinse” and add 5oz of formula to the water in the Tank-in-Tank. Fill the tank with water only when finished cleaning and flush out the system.
