Cleaning the dirt tank:
We don’t recommend you to remove the center-cone. The center-cone has 4 screws that secure it to the tank assembly. If you remove these screws, the gasket seal may come unseated, which would let debris into the upper chamber. The screws are factory-tightened to certain specifications. Removing these screws may void the warranty. Dust normally forms a layer on the inside of the center-cone. To clean, use a feather duster or something similar to lightly dust the inside of the cone. Given the volume of air-flow, clogs should not be a problem in this area. Though the gray screen can be removed by pressing inward on the 2 side-tabs, we highly recommended not to remove the screen, but instead, lightly wipe the inside and outside of the screen with a dry towel to clean off dust or debris.
Was the Healthy Home Vacuum® tested with allergy sufferers?
Yes, the Healthy Home Vacuum was designed with allergy sufferers in mind. While it is a bagless vacuum and must be emptied, we designed the dirt container so that it can be easily emptied as far away from the user as possible, minimizing the contact with the dust. We do recommend that allergy sufferers empty the container into a plastic bag. The bottom should be closed and bag removed only after the dust settles. Please see the instructions on page 9 of the User’s Guide (available online) for pictures and further details. In the case of severe allergies, you may want to have another person empty the dirt container for you.
