Home Remedy: Beverage, Cosmetic, Medicine, Food, Household, and Pet Stains (use one quarter tsp liquid dishwashing detergent for these stain types)
Before cleaning: test for colorfastness on hidden area. If carpet color is affected do not use this product. On upholstery, look for a manufacturer’s cleanability code tag. Use on fabrics coded “WS” or “W”. If coded “X” or “S”, do not use. Do not use on velvet, silk, vinyl or leather upholstery.
Blot the area with a clean dry towel, then apply small amounts of cold water. Blot and repeat several times.
Mix ¼ teaspoon of a liquid dishwashing detergent into 1 cup of lukewarm water and put into a spray bottle. Spray the area with the solution. (NOTE: Do not use laundry detergent or automatic dishwasher detergent, as both contain chemicals that could damage your carpet.)
Gently work the solution into area with a small brush, sponge or cloth using light strokes from the edges of the stain to the center. When you reach the center of the stain, lightly pinch in an upward motion. Do not rub the stain.
Rinse the spray bottle to remove any of the dishwashing detergent solution and fill the spray bottle with lukewarm water. Use the spray bottle filled with just water to spray the area lightly. Blot area dry. Repeat this rinsing and blotting procedure. NOTE: it is important to rinse the detergent solution from the area. Any residue that remains may become a “dirt magnet”.
Allow area to dry thoroughly.
