- Unplug machine and remove the water tank from the front of the cleaner
- If the machine has a red solution filter cap continue below, if not skip to the next step
- Remove the Red Solution Filter Cap by inserting a coin or flathead screw driver into the slot on the top, turning counter clock wise

Remove the white Solution Filter and rinse under cool water

Replace the Solution Filter, screw in the Red Solution Filter Cap,

Check that the tank lid is properly attached to the tank bottom with the nozzle hooked into the groove at the bottom of the tank, and secured with the gray latch
- Look at both the caps for the tank and Smartmix solution tank to ensure that a red, rubber gasket is in place for proper solution dispensing
- If there is no gasket on the cap of either the tank or Smartmix Solution tank check for it in the base of the machine, if it is missing a new tank cap should be ordered
- Fill both the tank and the solution tank with tap water
- Press up on the x in the red rubber gasket on both tanks to see if water comes out, if no water comes out a new tank or formula tank should be ordered (formula tank not applicable to the 1383)
- Next check the collection tank by removing the tank and putting the solution tank (filled with water) on the clean water receiver and turning the cleaning dial to water rinse
- Test for spray from the hose and to the floor
- If spray comes out of the hose, but not on the floor a new tank should be ordered
- If still no spray continue troubleshooting
- Next check the spray tips for the floor
- Remove the water tank from the front of the machine to expose the floor spray tips
- Remove one spray tip by pressing the sides in and pulling it up and out
- With the spray tip removed, use a pair of pliers to squeeze the metal clamp behind the spray tip and pull the spray tip out of the spray line
- If your machine has a separate formula tank, place the tank in the clean water tank receiver and place a towel on front of the machine.
- For 1383 models: Place the tank back on the machine and have the spray line point towards the brushes. Fill bladder with water
- Turn the machine on and press the trigger for 5-10 seconds or until you see water
- If water sprays out the spray tips will need to be cleaned. These can also be cleaned with a paper clip or soaked under warm water to remove any debris
- If there's no spray, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center or Contact Us
For no spray to the hose:
- Remove the tool from the hose and clean the spray tip on the hose with a pin or small paper clip
- Make sure the clean water tank is on the machine and has water in it
- With the tool removed from the hose, plug the machine in and power on
- Hold the hose facing down towards the ground and press the spray trigger and hold for 10-15 seconds, spray should come out of the spray tip
- If spray comes out of the spray tip after cleaning, reattach the tool and check for spray
- If there is no spray coming out of the tool, a new tool should be ordered
- If the machine does not spray from the spray tip after cleaning, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center or Contact Us
