The power light should automatically turn on when you first plug in the unit.
If the power light is on, make sure a steam setting is selected and there is water in the tank.
If the power light is not on, the first thing to check is to make sure your unit is plugged into a working outlet.
Next, check the entire length of the power cord for damage.
