Because Every Purchase Saves Pets™, critical funds are directed to BISSELL Pet Foundation's programs that make a measurable impact on animal welfare. Three of the most prominent programs include:

• Empty the Shelters® As the nation’s largest funded adoption event, Empty the Shelters makes adoption affordable for families while giving homeless pets the chance they deserve. Since launching in 2016, the program has helped hundreds of thousands of pets find loving homes, freeing up valuable shelter space for more animals in need. BISSELL Pet Foundation makes this possible by reimbursing participating shelters and rescues for each adoption, reducing barriers so more lives can be saved with every event.
• Fix the Future® Fix the Future is the nation’s fastest growing spay/neuter initiative, tackling the lack of veterinary access for shelters and pet owners. BISSELL Pet Foundation deploys contracted veterinarians to partner organizations in regions of greatest need, breaking barriers to affordable care. Fix the Future helps prevent countless unwanted litters from entering already overcrowded shelter systems.
• Animal Initiative and Management® (AIM): When disasters strike, pets and their families need immediate help, and that's where BISSELL Pet Foundation's AIM team steps in. AIM provides critical support during natural disasters, helping to rescue, shelter, and reunite pets with their families when communities are devastated by hurricanes, floods, or other emergencies.

Other ways to make an impact

There are plenty of opportunities to do support pets in need. For example, a significant portion of BISSELL Pet Foundation’s funding is made possible by contributions from generous people like you. Because BISSELL covers the Foundation’s administrative costs, 100% of donations go directly to saving pets.

Getting involved locally can be rewarding too. Most animal shelters and rescues desperately need volunteers to help with things like dog walking and cat socialization as well as administrative help and special event setup. If you can't commit to regular volunteering, consider fostering an animal. By caring for an adoptable animal until it finds its loving home, you free up shelter space for another pet.  Adopting a pet is another way to help animals in need. BPF’s Empty the Shelters® events can help reduce fees associated with bringing a pet home, permanently.  

You can even set up a donation drive amongst your friends. Animal shelters often maintain supply wish lists, often including items such as blankets, towels, pet food, and toys.
