Amazon Prime Day is almost here! If you’re a seasoned Prime member, you know this huge, online sale normally takes place in the middle of summer. While waiting is always the hardest part for anything, after a few months delay, we’re hopeful this year’s Prime Day will be worth the wait. The two-day online extravaganza of the internet’s best deals starts on October 13, and with fall already so clearly in the air, this sale will likely mark the unofficial start to holiday shopping this year.

Got a passion for helping homeless pets but don’t know how to get involved? It’s easier than you might think to help homeless animals, and it doesn’t always require picking up puppy poo or changing a kitty’s litter box! As we head into the tail end of the year, here are five ways you can make a difference in the lives of shelter animals – some of which don’t even require you to spend money or get up from your computer.

Just like the superheroes in comic books, real-life heroes have many guises. Some of these heroes come in human form and keep their capes hidden, instead donning police or firefighting gear, soldiers’ uniforms and other garb. But the animal world also has its share of courageous heroes that come in all sizes, shapes and breeds.

Many of us are eager to do our part to support positive change in this country, but we don’t always know how to begin. Pet overpopulation is a significant problem in the U.S., and while we’re seeing an increase in the number of pets adopted from shelters and rescues, we still euthanize approximately four million adoptable dogs and cats each year simply because of overpopulation.

Chances are, some of the resolutions you’ve made for yourself in 2010 will benefit your pets too! After all, we both could stand to be more active, watch what we eat and make new friends.
