How to Clean a Shower with a BISSELL® Steam Mop

We all spend a lot of time in the shower, so keeping it clean should be a no-brainer. We also know cleaning showers is not the most fun of chores, but what if we told you we have an easy way to clean showers and all it takes is a single machine and some water? In this post, we’ll explain just how easy cleaning a shower can be with a steam mop. And we won’t just teach you how to clean your shower, you’ll learn how to clean shower walls, tubs, faucets, and door tracks, all using a single steam mop.

Besides water, the only thing you need on your supply list for this task is one of our steam mops. We like to recommend the BISSELL® PowerFresh® Pet Lift-Off® Steam Mop since it’s actually two steam cleaners in one. So, you can use it as a traditional steam mop for your hard floors or take advantage of the lift-off feature and use it as a handheld steamer to clean above floor surfaces, making it perfect for cleaning showers. PowerFresh® Slim Heavy Duty Steam Mop and PowerEdge™ Lift-Off® 2-in-1 Steam Mop are also good options for cleaning your shower using a steam mop.

Steam Clean the Hard-to-See

PowerFresh® Pet Lift-Off® heats up in just 30 seconds, so it’s almost instantly ready to go. Meaning you don’t have to plan out your cleaning strategy too much. In fact, you can tackle a mess in your shower within minutes of noticing it. This steam cleaner also comes with 13 attachments that work with the handheld steamer and makes cleaning showers easy. Those tools include: a grout tool for cleaning grout, several bristle scrub brushes for steam cleaning around the faucet and other knobs in the shower, a window squeegee tool for glass shower doors, and a flat surface tool that we’ll get into later in this post. The handheld steamer also has an extension hose, so you can really get into those tough nooks and crannies without having to hold the steamer so high.

“I used both the Red and Black Bathroom Brushes around the faucets and the edges of the shower sliding doors. I've never been able to get the rust off the inside edges of the door, but the Red Brush really did a great job with little effort. I then used the Flat Surface Tool to steam the inside of the shower along with the sliding doors. To my amazement, the rust came right off the shower walls.”* -Birdy, 5-star review

Take It to the Tub

The attachments for PowerFresh® Pet Lift-Off® also work to clean those awkward areas where the shower walls meet the tub. The grout tool allows you to target and send steam directly to an area, plus you can choose how much steam you use with the fingertip controls. These controls allow you to customize the amount of steam you use by giving you three levels of steam to choose from. The tub and shower walls can be cleaned with the flat surface tool or the flat scraping tool. We recommend using the flat surface tool for regular, everyday cleaning and using the flat scraping tool for tougher, stuck-on messes your shower or tub may encounter.

Steam Clean with a Scent

Because you’re cleaning with steam, you’re getting a natural, chemical-free clean with just water, so you don’t have to keep any other special shower wall cleaner on hand. But one of the best parts of shower cleaning is that clean shower smell you get when you’re done. That’s why we know you’ll love our special scented waters and scent discs. In fact, PowerFresh® Pet Lift-Off® actually comes with two odor-eliminating scent discs.

“It's even better when you use the scent disks, so I highly recommend those!”* -Brooke, 5-star review

And, if you end up liking the scent discs, you can always order more! You may also want to consider trying our scented demineralized waters. They come in three fresh scents, eucalyptus mint, citrus and spring breeze, so there’s a scent for everyone to like.

So, go ahead and use your BISSELL® steam mop to clean your shower and tackle those tough spots that a sponge and manual clean just can’t always get to. Oh, and did we mention no scrubbing?

It’s safe to say the best way to clean a shower, according to BISSELL®, is to use a steam cleaner. It’s chemical-free and many of our innovative steam mops work as handheld cleaners, too.
