A Daily, but Not Daunting, Weekly Routine for Winter Cleaning

I am not going to lie; I love to clean. For me, it’s therapeutic in a way. It takes my mind off of everything else I have going on, and I get instant gratification seeing the before and after of a clean space. I don’t wait until spring to do the majority of my deep cleaning. Spring cleaning is such a popular term, but for me I clean all year long because the more you stay on task with cleaning around your home, the less you have to do at one given time.  Here are my winter cleaning tips for your home and how to work them into a weekly schedule.

Weekly Cleaning Schedule:

Sunday:

Laundry AND floors AND sheets! If you’re hanging around your house on Sunday like I am, it’s the perfect time to start doing some laundry. All other days of the week, I am often running around, so if I start a load of laundry in the morning, I forget about it all day until the evening after it’s just been sitting in the washer and getting gross, you get it. I will also use my CrossWave® Cordless Max Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vac in my mudroom, laundry room and kitchen. After being home all weekend and having the kids home, too, the floors definitely need a good clean. Wet dirt, salt and mud are so often brought into the house by kids and pets in the winter, so I absolutely love the way my floors look after a good cleaning with the CrossWave Cordless Max.

Monday:

Kitchens! It’s always nice to get the main room in the home picked up after a weekend. Spend some more time on your kitchen today, not just the usual dishes and countertops. Scrub your sink really well and add in just one “extra” task. For example, for me that would be one of the following: cleaning the stove vent, wiping down cabinet fronts, cleaning out the inside of my refrigerator and freezer, or organizing the pantry. I’m sure there are items around your kitchen that don’t meet the daily cleaning checklist, so tackle one every week.

Tuesday:

Floors! I know, we just did the floors on Sunday, but let’s be real, we’re spending more time inside in the winter, so the floors could honestly be done every day. Re-do your hot spot areas with the CrossWave Cordless Max but also vacuum your bedrooms and other rooms in your house that only need to be cleaned once a week.

Wednesday:

Bathrooms! Midway through the week seems like a good time to tackle the bathrooms. I feel like everyone has their own way of going about this in the most efficient way for them. For me I wash the towels first, wipe down counters and sinks, clean the toilet and showers, and clean the floors last.

Thursday:

CrossWave! By Thursday all the main areas of my house are still clean from the week, so all I have to do is quickly whip the CrossWave Cordless Max out and hit those hot spot areas again and call it a day.

Friday:

Dust AND tidy up! For me I want a clean and organized house going into the weekend, so I spend some time, not a ton, getting the house pretty.

Saturday:

Projects! Sometimes I’m in the mood and sometimes I’m not. But if I am, I will try to tackle a couple items on my “House To-Do” list. Some examples off of my current list are organize mechanical room (which doubles as storage), clean kitchen light fixtures and dust baseboards.

I hope this gives you ideas on how to better organize your winter cleaning tasks and even help you declutter for winter. If nothing else, maybe it’s a bit encouraging to know that not everything has to wait to be done during one time or once a year, and that you can also space out your weekly cleaning schedule so it doesn’t take up a full weekend day.  Whatever schedule works for you, stick with that, but consider adding in some of those “extras” and projects when you can. Good luck and happy cleaning!

I mentioned the CrossWave Cordless Max a few times above and that’s because it’s one of my most favorite products BISSELL has ever made. It’s beyond convenient, easy-to-use and easy-to-clean. The scented formula leaves every room smelling clean and, so far, it’s cleaned up every mess I’ve ever had. Every once in a while I use it on my area rugs to refresh them as well.

See what others who are maybe less biased than myself have to say about the CrossWave Cordless Max.

“OMGosh! I just used this for the first time and I am in love! We are a 3 Schnauzer home, you can imagine there is always "something" to deal with. Thank you for such an amazing product.” - Nancy, 5-star review**
