Creating a sustainable future requires global participation. BISSELL works with our retailer partners and suppliers around the world to reduce environmental impact through our products’ lifecycles – joint establishment of objectives and goals, and coordinated implementation are critical to the success of these efforts. BISSELL also partners with external organizations like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and participates in industry initiatives to further the sustainability agenda.
Safer Choice Label
BISSELL proudly displays the EPA’s Safer Choice label on more than 30 of our cleaning formulas. The label helps consumers identify and select products that perform well and are safe for human health and the environment, without sacrificing quality. Our portable and upright deep cleaning formulas and our most natural formulas have biodegradable detergents and no dyes, optical brighteners or heavy metals. In fact, we have a “Champion Formula” in the Safer Choice program’s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative, which recognizes the leadership BISSELL has in the floor care industry when it comes to developing environmentally-friendly formulas. You can read more about the EPA’s Safer Choice label and what it means by clicking here.
The EPA recognition doesn’t signify an endorsement of the product. Instead, the Safer Choice label means the product’s formula has ingredients with more positive human health and environmental characteristics than similar products. EPA/Safer Choice relies entirely on BISSELL and its integrity and good faith for information on the composition, ingredients and attributes of the formula. EPA/Safer Choice hasn’t independently identified, via chemical analysis, the ingredients in the product formula, nor evaluated any BISSELL non-ingredient claims. EPA/Safer Choice makes its evaluation only as the product’s human health and environmental characteristics as specified in the Safer Choice Standard and based on currently available information and scientific understanding.
BISSELL partners with our customers and return centers to fully utilize trucks. The result? A more efficient and environmentally-friendly shipping model. These efforts have made us an EPA SmartWay certified transportation partner.
Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA)
BISSELL participates with other members of the CSPA in the association’s new, voluntary Consumer Products Ingredient Communication (CPIC) initiative. The initiative hopes to provide meaningful product ingredient information to help consumers think about the safety and environmental impact their purchases may have. CPIC guidelines apply to all BISSELL cleaning formulas. Ingredient information on individual product pages are on our website.
