Creating a sustainable future requires a combined effort across the globe. BISSELL works closely with our retailer partners and suppliers to reduce environmental impacts throughout our products’ lifecycles; joint establishment of objectives and goals and coordinated implementation are critical to the success of these efforts. We also partner with external organizations such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and participate in industry initiatives to further the sustainability agenda.
Design for the Environment
BISSELL is proud to be recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) program, and has been named a DfE Partner. BISSELL formulas for use in both portable and upright deep cleaners, as well as most manual formulas, contain biodegradable detergents and have no phosphates, dyes, optical brighteners or heavy metals. All BISSELL machine formulas carry the EPA’s Design for the Environment certification, which is recognized for safer chemistry. And, BISSELL was recently named a “Champion Formulator” in the DfE program's Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative (SDSI), recognizing BISSELL’s industry leadership in developing environmentally friendly floor-care formulas.
The DfE program is one of the EPA’s premier partner programs, which allows the EPA to work with individual companies and industry sectors to compare and improve performance, human health and the environmental risks and costs of existing and alternative products, processes and practices. All of BISSELL’s machine formulas have the DfE logo displayed and are available at retailers. BISSELL’s DfE designated products include:

Consumer Specialty Products Association
BISSELL also participates with other members of the Consumer Specialty Products Association in the CSPA’s new voluntary Consumer Products Ingredient Communication initiative. The initiative aims to provide meaningful product ingredient information that will help consumers incorporate considerations about safety and environmental impact into their purchasing decisions. CPIC guidelines apply to all BISSELL cleaning formulas. You can find ingredient information on individual product pages on Bissell.com.
