My Versus® Bare Floor Vacuum has low to no suction. What should I do?

1. First, make sure the dirt cup is empty and attached correctly. If there are any gaps between the dirt cup and the foot of the unit, the vacuum will lose suction.

2. Remove the separator grill, a red plastic insert in the dirt container, and check for debris. If you can’t get the separator out, please see our “separator hard to remove” FAQ.

3. Check for suction at the motor duct (the motor duct is beneath the pre-motor foam filter).  Remove the filter and tray to check the motor duct, as seen below. If there’s no suction here, please go to step 7. If there is suction here, go on to step 4.

4. Check the pre-motor foam filter to make sure it’s clean.  This filter can be cleaned with warm water and mild detergent.  Make sure the filter is completely dry before you reinstall it.

5. Check for suction at the end of the hose. If there is suction at the hose, go on to step 6. If there’s no suction, the hose is likely clogged. Push a broomstick through the hose to clear any blockages.

6. Take the foot off the vacuum, lay it flat, and look through the suction path. Shake out any debris clogged in the foot of the vacuum. If the clog is stuck, run a pipe cleaner or clothes hanger through the foot a few times to loosen the debris.

7. If there’s still no suction, please take your vacuum to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking or by calling http://www.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers  1-800-237-7691, available 24 hours a day.
