Why doesn't my machine suction anymore?

- Make sure the dust bag is not full. - Check the premotor filter for debris. The filter may be cleaned with warm water and mild detergent. Make sure the filter is completely dry before reusing. - Check the motor duct for suction. If there is no suction at this area, please take your machine to a Bissell service center for assistance. To locate your nearest BISSELL Authorized Service Center, go here http://www.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers. Enter your zip code to perform your search. You can also locate a Service Center by phone, 24 hours a day, by calling 1-800-237-7691 and choosing option #1. - Remove the hose and check for a clog in the suction opening. If the hose is clogged, work the hose by massaging the clogged area or gently twist the hose where the clog is located. - Make sure the door is latched shut. The door will not latch without the dust bag in place. - Re-attach the hose and check for suction at the end of the hose with the attachments and powerhead off. - Check the variable suction control. This may have to be set higher. - Check the power head by removing the access plate and brush to check for clogs. - Check the extension wand for clogs. Try pushing a broomstick through the wand to push the debris through. - Make sure the brush is rotating. - Check the post motor filter for debris. This filter cannot be washed; it would have to be replaced. If you are still having difficulty or a filter is needed for your machine, please contact a Bissell Service center for assistance.
