1. Is this the first time you’ve ever used your steam mop? If it’s not, follow the instructions below. If it is, go on to the next step.
a) If you’ve used your steam mop before, water is not able to get into the machine. This can happen if the unit sits for a long period of time. First, check that there’s water in the tank.
b) Next, make sure the water tank is seated properly with no gaps.
c) Finally, try holding the trigger down for 30 seconds.
2. If this is your first time using the steam mop, hold the trigger down until the noise goes away. This may take up to 1 or 2 minutes. This is a normal sound of the pump trying to pull water through the machine. It will happen on the first use, each time the unit runs out of water, if it sits for an extended period of time allowing the water to evaporate, or if using a new filter.
