How do you feel about microchips for pets?

I love microchips for pets! Having your pet dog, cat, rabbit or horse microchipped is one of the smartest things you can do for them. Nearly one out of every three family pets becomes lost at some point. Sadly, less than half are ever reunited with their families.

The number one reason so few ever find their homes is because pet parents fail to put proper identification on their pet. Don’t procrastinate! Make sure your pet is wearing a well-fitting collar with an identification tag, which contains your contact information, including cell number and email address. Also, many counties or municipalities require your pet be vaccinated annually or every three years for rabies. You may need to have a rabies license on your pet’s collar too.

Thirdly, ask your veterinarian to microchip your pet during your next visit. Or, be on the lookout for low-cost microchipping clinics for pets. Make sure your pet’s microchip is properly registered to the chip manufacturer’s database with your current contact information.
