This vacuum is the best I have ever used. Here are my pros and cons:
Pro:
Powerful - excellent suction
Excellent maneuverability
Brush stops spinning when locked in the upright position
Telescoping wand
Rubber guards to protect furniture
Built like a tank
Brush roll defeat
Excellent accessory storage
Easy to empty
Super long power cord
Effective headlight
Price
Con:
Heavy
Non retracting power cord
For the price Bissell is asking for this vac, I truly feel you can not do better. This thing is truly amazing. Bissell really thought of everything with this vacuum.

The Bissell Home Vac-Sucks the dirt out like no other for half the price of the other guy Dys-Vac. This little machine was pick up at Cost?? at around $100, 20+30 on sale. I love the unit it sucks the dirt from my carpet and it almost seems that is sucking it from under the house as well because the sucking power is amazing. Easy to use but my only complain would have to be the area rug I got, gets suck in if I don't get help with it. Wish there was a way to raise it a bit to help it from trying to devour my rug, other than that I love the darn thing. Bissell is my brand from now on until it breaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by consumer joe So far, so good!
I purchased my Bissell vacuum yesterday after comparing warranties and features with about 6 other ones that were on display. I had read some reviews that said it was difficult to assemble the vac....NOT! I think it took me longer to get the vac out of the box than it did to put it together! So far I like it just as well as any other vacuum I've ever owned. Emptying the collection cup is easy too. And the longer power cord is one of the best features. I may change my opinion at sometime down the road but for now, it's all good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 12Amped Momma Vroom Vroom
Just bought this vacuum a few days ago and have been really impressed with its power. Initially I turned it on without pressing the 'brush' button but once I did - vroom, vroom! I love the extra power - I have 3 very active kids, a husband that does landscaping, and it seems 'stuff' always finds a way to the carpet. With my old vacuum, it would look like I never EVER vacuumed after a few days. I'm elated to report that after 4 days of family-traffic we're still looking pretty good. The stairs had been notorious for hair, and little pieces of stuff but not today. So while my experience is a 5, I rated it as 4 since I'm alittle concerned after reading some of the other reviews about wear-n-tear over time. I'm hoping I can find my reciept to make good on the 5 year warranty.

Rated 2 out of 5 by bryan123 the best vacuum ever yet worst construction ever
first of all i would like to say that this vacuum is very powerful and it is very easy to clean out the captured dirt. the unit also does not get clogged like the last model i had, which would force me to have to wet/rinse the filters every couple of weeks. also the air filtration is the best i have used (air that comes out of it does not smell as bad as other models i have had). good for allergy sufferers.
however, i have had a few issues with the construction which brings me to write this review as i am again in the market for a new vacuum as my Healthy Home model has broke at the main pivot point hinge down by the rear wheels rendering it useless. (after about a year and a half of use)
after about 6 months of using it, the lower section of the handle broke (it is very narrow plastic) but i was able to epoxy over the cracks and keep it usable for another year.
ironically i attribute the handle breaking and the pivot point hinge breaking due to the enormous amount of suction the unit produces. it essentially "sticks" to the carpet so well that the plastic that holds it together falls apart/cracks.
i looked around at stores today to find a replacement vacuum and ended up not buying one due to the current offerings the stores had.
i would have given this review 5 stars provided the unit hadn't broken in two places because even though the vacuum has good suction performance and really good filtration, i find myself shelling out more money to replace the last.
Bissell, please improve the weak points in the healthy home design so i can continue to be a loyal customer.
thanks

Rated 4 out of 5 by frog Powerful vacuum carries its attachments
I love that the attachments stay with the vacuum and are easily detachable and reattachable. The vacuum goes from being a floor vacuum to using the hose with ease and vacuums dust as well as a dustrag. Love that the brush can be turned off to vacuum the kitchen floor on low setting.
Also like the option of emptying the dirt-bin into a plastic bag and not getting any dust in the air. The vacuum does an excellent job of picking up the pile on my carpet and by turning off the brush I can vacuum area rugs with ease.

The Healthy Home has been one of my favorite Vacuums but the worst thing is the canister drop hinge continue to break this is the third time! Guess it is time for Duct tape because I am not buying another one!!!! Also the design of the brush has the wrong angle for good cleaning it is much too straight.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JRTinGA First Impression
I have area rugs and floors, so this was not the smartest buy. I need to be able to vacuum the floor and carpets, and switch with ease between the two. Why not have an optional floor attachment to connect to the hose?
The location of the heighth adjusment is cumbersome when trying to move from carpet to floor and vice versa. I don't like having to stop to do it.
The cord is another disappointment. There's a clip below the handle, but I didn't see that covered in the manual...and I'm betting it will break at some point.
Seems to clean well enough, but might have reconsidered the purchase if I had test driven it first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by foreverfarm11 Better than D----!
I purchased this vac to replace the refurbished D---- I had purchased 6 months before (for more money). I loved the D---- - the 4 times it worked - but after 3 trips to the repair shop and sending it back to the factory and still not have it working...I thought I would try another vac. I bought this one and I am completely happy with it. It sucks up all the hair from my 2 st bernards and 3 cats with no problems. (I do have to pull hair from the roller every week). I am completely satisified with the product - would buy it again and would recomend it to anyone....I think it is just as good as the more expensive sweepers.
Thanks Bissell!

I bought this after My Kenmore vacuum finally fell apart. So far this vacuum has been awesome...although it is pretty loud (thats why I gave it a 4) .. its quite abit louder then my Kenmore was but it works Really well, I have 2 dogs so dog hair is a big issue in my house, and this vacuum picks it up great, I am amazed at how much more this vacuum picks up compared to my old Kenmore...

Rated 2 out of 5 by HeatherKT Light stopped working, VERY loud, roller rattles
I bought this machine two days ago. I have used it twice. The first time I used it, I noticed it was really loud and had a high-pitched whine that hurt my ears. I finally put in earplugs. My dog is particularly afraid of this vacuum so he can't be anywhere near it when it's running.
Also, when the roller runs, it rattles as if there is a loose bearing, and every time I push forward, the roller shuts off. I realize it should do this in the upright position, but not while I am vacuuming!
The first time I ran it, I noticed it had a light, which isn't really a critical feature of a vacuum, in my opinion. However, the second time I ran it the light didn't work. I looked in the owner's manual and all over the machine to see if there was an on/off switch for the light, but couldn't find one. With all of these issues, I am concerned about the overall (lack of) quality, so I am returning it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Oregonian Poorly constructed
I was hesistant to give Bissell another try given the problem I had with my Pro Heat, but I thought this machine looked like a good value.
When putting it together, I found the handle screws very difficult to turn and ultimately could not get them all of the way in, which caused the handle to wiggle. This was just a little annoying, not a deal breaker.
I found the floor suction to be good, and I like the option of turning off the brush. However, the very first time I used the hose attachments, I noticed the hose leaked where the soft, coiled hose meets the hard plastic. Not acceptable and something that should have been tested before the unit left the factory. I returned it to Costco.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Laven I LOVE BISSELL PRODUCTS!
We recently purchased this item and I am so impressed
was nervous at first due to reviews on Bissells own site but saw how they handled it and was impressed. I have had it about 2 weeks now I have used it everyday but 2 have had none of the issues i had read on website and it is the best pet hair lifter i have ever used we have 3 large hairy shedding dogs and i have allergies and need to keep as much fur away from me as possible. T his is an great product
I started out years ago with an high dollar Hoover, my husband worked on the road and bought a bissell to use on his jobs paid about 40 dollars at the time, from the first time he brought it in the house the Hoover was put away cause the Bissell vacum even back then was better in opinion. We ended up buying another Bissell for the house and replaced it with this one. Love it!

Love the suction and the turbo brush for stairs. We have 2 dogs and lots of company at our lake home and this machine gets the job done. I agree with others that the attachments could be better attached also the hose at the bottom of the machine rubs and wears out. Will always be a Bissell buyer!

having developed bad allergies over the last few years, my allergist told me to get air filters for my home and a good vacuum and to vacuum regularly. I started researching and came across the bissell healthy home. i compared it to other top brand products and decided this was everything I was looking for at the best price.
Before I bought mine, I vacuumed my house. When I got home with the new vacuum I went through the house again and was surprised how much it picked up having just vacuumed a few hours earlier. It works so well and even though I have only had it a week so far, I can tell a huge difference in the way my carpet feels and the freshness of the house in general. The attachments work amazing on furniture for pet hair and on hard floors.
I would definitely recommend the healthy home vacuum, especially for house holds with animals or people with allergies! All in all this was a Great buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by not happy not 100% happy
this was a replacement for my old Healthy Home vaccum that only lasted 3 years. It was breaking bit by bit and Bissell finally replaced it with a new version of it. It's currently doing the job but the Turbo brush falls off constantly along with the brush attachment in the back. I am only using this machine because it is new and is currently working but will probably never buy another Bissell machine again.

The first model was the HHome 5770 worked five yrs.. Loved it except for the huge tip over issue. Had to get a new one when the handle broke. Even Mom loved it. The second one is the HHome 16N5-F. After using it for a month the only problem is the reduction of suction power when using the hose attachments. Never happened with the old model. We use the vacuum to three times a week so it gets a work out. We also make sure to replace filters regularly, empty the container after each use of all the dust and fluff that covers everything.

This vacuum is the best by far that I have ever owned. My old vacuum would not work on my hard wood floors. You had to sweep and use the hose to pick everything up. The Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum is worth the money you spend. Bissell will be the only product I buy from now on.

Very pleased with this vacuum. I have allergies and was needing something that could pick up dirt, dust, and pet dander. The Bissell did that for me. I like how easy it is to use too. The only thing I would improve on is that the tool on the top back is easy to come off in the process of vacuuming, but I can just leave it off to prevent that from happening.

Very pleased with its ability to collect dust and dog hair from the floor. The attachments could be improved to make them stay in their storage location. The attachments do not collect pet hair as well as the main floor vacuum.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Zoey Has great suction, HOWEVER!
The attachement on the front will not stay attached. I find opening of the dirt bin awkward and cumbersand. I know I have lots of dirt and hair from three dogs but it doesn't take long for the dog hair to wind around the turbos and I have to take it all apart and pull the hair away. I do love the suction!

My family has the Bissell Healthy Home. We have a long hair cat who is for a lack of better words a nightmare when it comes to shedding. This Bissell has been a dream when dealing with dander and hair. My son who is two even vacuums the cat with the want. We have stairwells and both are carpeted, the power brush is incredible! I have owned Dolphins, Rainbows, you name it I have had a lot of super expensive luxury vacuums. This is by far the best Luxury Cleaner I have ever owned. Knowing my product is covered by a five year limited warranty takes a bit of the heat off of me when dealing with my husband. Were not calling a dealer out to the home to service simple things like filters. I go to the grocery store and they always have my filters, no special trips to specialty stores required. I have had a broker trap door to the vacuum but this was due to a two year old and a power wheel auto accident in the hallway. Customer service took great care of me and I had the replacement within a week. I will never buy another brand as long as Bissell is still pumping out products designed specifically for my families needs. We love our Healthy Home, and we love our vacuum cleaner!

Were coming back again after 6 years of heavy use, we have the blue circa 2007, its been a great vacuum and still works with several smashed of lugs, clips brackets.. its been bitten by the dog (Hates it) and abused by my family visiting from the UK, I have to say these units a well built, I have stripped it to the deck more than twice now to deep clean it, each time I strip this unit down I realize how well designed and built these Bissell's are, I'm now shopping for a new unit as its time to retire Old Blue!! he's do his job and we plan to keep him for outdoor car use... wonderful product and well made, dont hesitate in buying.

Had vacuum for less than 5 years. First year power switch remains on have to plug and unplug to turn on and off. Attachments don't stay on vacuum. Attachments do work well. 2nd year door on dirt cup broke(the hinge) plugs up quite often. Attachment hose had good suction now there is no suction (it is not plugged) For what I paid it was a very bad investment.I had a cheaper non bissell cyclonic vac before this one and it lasted 3 times longer.

Every thing in this vacuum is GREAT! Starting from The perfect suction ending with the nice green color.
I feel comfortable that I have a healthy vacuum. The most important: it is big enough to finish your work quickly, and it has many parts you can use to unreachable places and stairs.
Although, Not everyone in my home like it at the first. My 16 months old kid was scared at the first, but after introducing him to its parts many times.. he started to accept it and not hiding when it show up :)))))

I absolutely love my bissell. The suction is great. The flexible hose is terriffic. It empties very easy. In fact I only have one negative to share. My brush attachment will not stay on the back of the vacuum. No matter what I do, as soon as I take hold of the handle and tilt it into vacuuming position it falls off. Do I have a faulty part or does anybody else have this happen? Kinda irritating but I love everything else.
