How to make more room in a small house?

Posted on 10/28/10 at 11:09 PM By Kendra Green | 4 Replies
I have so much furniture and I have had to downsize for our home. I don't want to get rid of any furniture because i need all of it, but it's kinda frustrating because I feel like I'm almost closed in and don't have room to move around. I don't know maybe I just need to be patient.

It's a hard call to make, but if you can part with some of your furniture, they may be able to use it at the local women's shelter or Goodwill.  Charitable organizations can normally find a use for furniture in good condition.

Well honestly I live in a small house, my hubby and I are kinda going through the same deal...of what to do for more space.. and honestly we need to get rid of some of the pieces.. we could do with out them, while yes they are in good shape and nothing is wrong with them.. and we like them but we don't like them enough to get a storage building for them, or rent building space.. and we don't plan on moving any time soon.... and I agree with the other poster .. you can get new pieces that will save you space and still be just as nice... So ask your self  "Is it worth getting a storage building over? Is it worth renting one?"

Kendra, there are two options for you.  One you need to honestly look at your furniture and ask yourself if you really "need" that piece of an extra chair or side table.  Could the files in your file cabinet be placed in several binders instead and then stored somewhere else?  The other option is to replace some of your furniture with more versatile pieces. And possibly replace your sofas are rather large, look for smaller scale furnishings. As a military spouse, we never knew what size housing we would have, so we had to be selective with our purchases.

Good luck.
