If it hasn't been used or worn in the past year, or serves no purpose,  I get rid of it. I can't stand clutter. My husband is a pack rat, so we butt heads alot over his "stash". Needless to say, his "stash" gets smaller everytime he leaves the house. He never notices anything missing, either. That tells you how important those stashed items are.
