I have used everything from Murphy's to the wet jet to microfiber mops. I have a infant and lots of spills. I have found that after having the floor finished and shined, the best way to keep it shiny is to seep 2 tea bags in boiling water for a few minutes and then mop using a microfiber mop and this mixture. It will keep your floors shiny. Also another method is to mix 1/2 teaspoon of olive or jojoba oil and a 1/4 cup of vinegar or lemon juice then mop using a soft cloth or microfiber mop. Just be sure to wring out as much liquid as possible before using it to wipe your wood floors.

My parents started me in doing this when cleaning their hardwood floors. Murphy's Oil Soap mixed with scalding hot walter. The mixture is rubbed onto the floor was a rag or sponge. I allow it to sit for about an hour or two then the floor gets polished with a machine. It looks nice, shiny & brand new afterwards.

I have 121 year old hardwood floors that I recently refinished and most of the reading and research I did before tackling this job said that mopping was one of the worst things you can do and using "modern" cleaners can also leave a sticky residue and lead to finish breaking down and like someone else on here said I use vinegar and VERY HOT water... the water needs to be HOT so that it evaporates quickly and doesn't damage the wood.  In between washings I use a dust mop with microfiber cloth or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.

To clean wood floors we use Bona and microfiber mopping system.   That keeps the floors shiny and new looking.

Wow!  Wood Floor Cleaner is the best thing I have ever found for wood floors.  It's applicator can be washed in the washing machine and it leaves floors looking great!  I used to be able to get it at Wal-mart.  Now that I've moved, I get it online.
