What I do to cut down on waste

I am 52 years old and I have been composting for 27 years. I separate and shred paper that can go in the compost and use the rest as a fire starter for my fireplace. All fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, egg shells and yard waste go in the compost and I take all my recyclables to the recycle station in my city. It takes me 4 weeks to fill a 30 gallon garbage bag to go to the dump.

O.k. so we are renters who do not have composting as an option. Now that we rent I have resolved not to buy the newspaper...I read either online or someone elses like at my moms house. If a product has a friendlier package for refilling a bottle we buy that.

Sounds like you do a lot to keep down on trash. We do recyling and paper shredding and some composting.
