Take some old jeans you plan on throwing out. Look at the back of the legs...could they be used to make green grocery bags? Just think how easy they would be to wash..they will last a long time because of the material used, the time spent on them is "you" time (not thinking of anything but what you are doing) the pride of making it yourself. You can personalize them anyway you want!

Perhaps you could also look into making a rag quilt with them.
