The best way to cut down on waste is to make sure you recycle.

I absolutly HATE plastic grocery bags. I am trying to "train" myself to get into the habit of taking the canvas bags with me when I grocery shop. If I forget them and absolutly dont have to have bags, I'll carry it all bagless to the car and into the house. I have actually carried about 15-20 items out of the store without bags. All the bags that we have that we have collected over the years have been used as packing material when we moved, but now we have all of it again after we unpacked. We also use the bags in the small trashcans we have around the house.

Try to find a use for things before throwing out and find products that use less packaging. Rather than throwing things away like zip lock storage bags..find reusable sealable containers. Our chinese food take out now comes in plastic containers so instead of buying storage containers we wash and use these. Also, some O.J containers are plastic with screw on lids that can be used to make powdered juice drinks rather than buying a new pitcher. The plastic grocery bags are used for our little trash buckets so we don't need to buy garbage bags and the arealso used for our dog waste instead of buying those cute little poo bags!
