Does it really help the dust level in your house to have your vents cleaned? if so, how often?

I honestly haven't had the inside of my vents cleaned. I do clean and wash the outside of my vents, including the one that covers my air conditioner inside my house. I also dust surfaces and ceiling fans before vacuuming. An air purifier might help as well.
