How do you get rid of the hair from your carpet before vacuuming?

I have long hair and there is always lots of hair on my carpet. I try to collect most of it with my bare hands before vacuuming.

With pets, it's an ongoing issue.  I invested a few bucks on a Bissell manual carpet sweeper just to pick up hair in spots so I don't have to keep bringing out the vacuum or recharge the hand held vacuum.  As I'm disabled, the sweeper helps a great deal.

Just vacuuming it up when there's that much hair (I have long hair and so do two of my pets) isn't as easy as it sounds - you have to clean the beater bars ALL the time and the cup gets full so you have to empty it before you even get one room done.
We have one of those squeegee brooms - the kind they sell at the fair and home improvement shows - it works great for getting up hair in the carpet, way better and easier than a regular broom (which I don't even own anymore). A couple passes with the squeegee broom and vacuuming and clean up is much easier.

I have very long hair too, and I just vacuum it up... but if you wanted you could take a broom and get it or use some sticky tape to certain areas that are prone to more hair or something?

Just vacuum.  It picks up all the hair.  We have the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.  Love it.

you could possibly get a broom and dust pan and try to loosen the hair from the carpets first.

Located on the white label above, usually on the back of the machine.
