Let me start by saying I was skeptical at first even though I read the great reviews. Well skepticism has left the building!!! I have a 17 year old carpet that is so beastly you would have to pay me a million dollars to walk barefoot on it. Well today is payday; my carpet looks so good I just can't believe my eyes. My whole town house is carpet except for the kitchen, wash room and bathrooms. It was so bad I never turned on the lights at night because I was afraid to look at my carpet. It really is a ecru color and not brown! The amount of dirt and black particles it pulled from the carpet was incredible. It even left the carpet fluffy, smelling great and looking brand spanking new. Old pepsi cola stains gone! Make-up stains gone! Urine stains from the dog gone! Weird smell gone! Old food spills gone! Unappealing appearance gone! Bissell let me tell ya, you had me the moment I turned the machine on. Easy assembly, easy use and worth money hard earned money. The only thing I would recommend is adding a side rotating bristle(s). This will allow you to get in between the crevices where the carpet meets the wall so the dirt that gets pushed to the wall can also be cleaned up. A+++

My husband and I finally broke down and bought a carpet cleaning machine after researching for a few months and I have to say that this cleaner has far surpassed my expectations with how quickly and effectively it has cleaned my carpet. My carpet is 7-8 years old and I had never deep-cleaned it (I know, really gross) and I just can't get over how much better it looks. It practically looks and feels like new again. I love that the unit keeps the clean solution hot while you work and that the dirty water tank is twice the size as the clean tank so you only have to dump it every other fill-up. The clean tank is small, but not any smaller than I had expected and I was still able to get a good deal cleaned before I had to refill. I have frieze carpeting, so I did a couple extra sweeps to make sure I had all the water pulled up and found that it wasn't really necessary to do that after some experimenting. Also, I am recovering from 2 back surgeries (7 months ago) and have not had any trouble maneuvering the machine around, cleaning, or emptying/filling the tanks. That alone has made this purchase worth every penny we paid for it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by jd Good while it works
Purchased this two years ago, now it does not dispense solution, I went through all the trouble shooting steps and still doesn't work. This is my 2nd Bissell Carpet cleaner, and they both stopped working within 2 years. Due to being out of warranty, it is not worth the cost and time to take to an authorized Bissell repair facility. For the price of these carpet cleaners, they should last more than 2 years, considering they only get used 2 - 3 times a year.

After having Bissell replace my original DeepClean - Pet machine because it was not sucking up the water from the carpet, I still am not impressed with the suction that is to recover the cleaning solution from the carpet. I cleaned one room yesterday morning, and as of this morning (24 hours later) it is still very damp. So very disappointed in the performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cleanfreak Better than expected
We have been using a commercial carpet cleaning service since we moved into our new home. We have a 15 year old Westie who suffers from food allergies and he throws up from time to time on the carpet. We are also both big coffee drinkers so there are coffee stains all over the place. We saw the Bissell Deep Lift Off pet carpet cleaner on sale for about the same price we pay for the commercial carpet service. Having used a number of rental carpet cleaners, I had low expectations. We bought some Bissell Pet Stain and odor cleaner and started cleaning. WOW!! The machine cleaned better than 99% of the rental units, the carpet smelled good, and BONUS, it was SOFT too!! We LOVE this machine! Our only negative is the cleaning solution tank is so small but the results far outweigh this issue for us. Thanks for a wonderful product!

My carpeting is almost 20 years old and has been through three children along with a few dogs over the years. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting too much from this product. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The carpeting looked clean and fluffy! Smelled good too! I used the lift away for my steps and boy was that water black. The suction was very good and it recovered nearly all the water that was initially put on the carpet. I would highly advise everyone to try this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Franknsheldie By far the best!
This unit is by far the best carpet cleaner I have ever owned. It was unbelievable how well it cleaned the high traffic areas. Some cleaners leave your carpet really wet but with a ceiling fan left on a few hours the carpet was dry. If I could change anything about it I would like to see larger tanks. The dirty one will hold about 2 1/2 of the clean ones which is nice but still could have used them a little bigger. If you are on the fence about spending the money go for it as this cleaner is worth it!

Recd this last Thursday, used it sunday. While it works basically the same as my bissell pro heat, which is several years old, it it MUCH easier to fill the solution tank, empty the dirty water tank and do maintenance on the machine smack dab in the middle of cleaning. One speed, great. I never changed speeds on the pro heat anyway. Not only does this suck the dirt out, but it really pulls out a lot of dog hair. I could have made another dog out of what I pulled out of the brushes. The installation of the handle was a little funky, took me a few minutes. Once I had that done, I flew.
A couple of things to note. One, is cut the included solution down to one ounce per tank. Two ounces was too soapy for my taste. Two, if you have a lot of pets and hair clogs the bushes and nozzle, the machine will start losing suction and spitting out dirty water and hair balls in excess. Stop cleaning, unplug from outlet, remove the spot cleaner which includes the motor and clean the nozzle under running water(3 screws, that's it). Pull the hair balls out from the brushes and surrounding crevices and replace the cleansed nozzle. Pop the spot cleaner back on. Get back to it. Oh, careful with applying the solution, the machine really puts down a good spray.
Compared to all my previous carpet cleaners, this one is darn good. My carpet looks good and smells good(we smoke, too). Big fan of bissell carpet cleaners because the brushes pull so much hair out v the competition with the circular brushes which I feel grinds the hair into the carpet.
Much better design than other bissell cleaners with the bladder, which I do not like. A couple of tanks to rinse, a few screws and cleaner was rinsed out and ready for another round...bedroom next.
