This wasn't my first rodeo with carpet cleaners, and after our last carpet cleaner finally wore out (Bissell Proheat 2x), I knew I would need another one quickly with 1 elderly dog and 2 longhair cats. I was so happy to find this one. I got if for a great deal with the rebate and a store coupon and it works just as good as a professional carpet steamer.
The Pros:
-It is ridiculously easy to push and is actually easier to maneuver than our Bissell vacuum.
-Water get really hot and stays hot the entire time while cleaning.
-The dual brushes get down in there and get the hair/sand/dirt/grime out of our cream colored carpets that were not taken care of by the previous tenants.
-It gets all sorts of stains out with a minimum of water, and our carpets (Southern Georgia) dry very quickly, in about 2 hours.
The Cons:
-Loud... but I rather have loud with powerful suction than quiet with wimpy:)
-Awkward cord placement. I find myself constantly kicking the cord out of the way since it comes out the side of the lift off part than from the handle. This is just the nature of the design and easily dealt with. I just loop my cord once through the handle.
I know other reviewers mentioned that theirs leaves hair clumps all over, and so does mine. But its not that big a deal to tie a small trash bag to the handle and pick them up as I go. Also, I stop periodically and wipe the bottom off and that seems to help minimize the clumps. I expect that as I clean the carpets twice a month, I will see a marked reduction in the hair balls.
Overall, an awesome product that I will gladly recommend to anyone looking for a quality cleaner!

Unreal, this machine worked incredible!!!! Simple to assemble, operate and awesome results. Well worth my investment and time. If you have pets, this machine is a must to keep your carpets clean......Thank you Bissell!

We have lived in our home for 8 years and have never had the carpets cleaned and I knew it was time to do it. I did not want to rent on of those big machines and I also wantedone of my own as we are going to be getting a puppy soon. When I used my machine I was very happy with the out come. My husband was even more amazed. My carpets looked new again. I like the lift off for when we get the puppy. I would recommend this machine to anyone.
I did not have any problem with the carpets drying as I did as the instructions told me, I also went over the wet carpet several times and it did not take long for my carpet to dry.

I got my bissell this past April it took me a whole month before I decided to use it. but I want to say that when I did I was amazed at how well it cleaned my carpet. I moved in to my new home about five years ago and never had my carpet cleaned maybe spot clean but I want to say is that it did exactly what it was meant to do,I recommend this machine to anyone who wants to save money and do it yourself. My past experiences were only with the rental machines. I had only rented a red cleaner and my back would hurt for a week and talk about heavy. BUT, my local retailer switched to Bissell rentals. To my disapointment I rented the Bissell just knowing that it would not do a good of job as my other red one. Boy was I wrong. It cleaned better and my back was not hurting. So, here I am writing a review for the Lift-Off Bissell I purchased because of that rental. My new Bissell is easy move from room to room, very easy to
add solution and empty, and I can not talk enough about the lift off feature. I will recomend this cleaner to anyone that is SERIOUS about a fantastic clean carpet...Cheers..Oh I must say that my feet thanks my new Bissell !!!

I loved how clean my carpets came!! It was an amazing job! I use to own a Hoover, and thought I would try something different. It also was so easy to use. I just wish that I didn't have to empty the container so often, as well as any extra pet hair clumping up onto the floors. But, the worst part is how wet my floor felt. It seemed to take forever for them to dry! Which with my last machine I never had that issue. Other than that it does a great job getting out stains, and cleaning deep down.

First I will say this is not my first Bissell. As with anything, they do wear out over time. So when it was time to get a new one, Bissell was the only company I even thought about. I have 2 dogs that live outside during the day when it's not to hot, but come in every night. There is a lot of dirt tracked in and they shed A LOT. Bissell cleaners have always worked for me.
POINTERS -- I read some negative comments about aligning the holes to screw the handle together. Its easy if you remove the lift-off component, lower the handle, and flip the unit over. Gravity will feed the screws into the alignment holes and they are easy to screw in. The instructions should point this out, but they don't.
Loud - it is a bit louder than previous units. I guess it's just the design since this has to function as 2 units in 1.
Leaves clumps of hair behind. Yes, it does leave clumps of hair behind - even if you vacuum very well before hand. These cleaners are riding across a layer of wet carpet, forming a seal almost. So, it pulls stuff from deep within the carpet (hence "deep cleaner"). Trust me -- you *want* it to leave clumps of hair behind. What happens if it doesn't do that, the small track that sucks the dirty water up will become clogged. If it gets clogged, you lose suction. If you lose suction - you will (a) be MORE dissatisfied and (b) burn out the motor of the unit over time. And it is extremely difficult to clean out that little suction space. I've owned a Hoover before as well, and it did the same thing.
Anyway - I highly recommend this unit. It was 2 months when our last unit finally went out, and there were some pretty gnarly stains. It got them unit with very little effort.
One thing I liked about other models by Bissell that I wish this had is the separate solution container. Not that big of a deal, but I liked it. I could on-the-fly select more solution for a heavy area and less for a minimal maintenance area.

This unit replaced a Hoover deep cleaning carpet cleaner we owned (the second Hoover we owned). Until recently we had 3 dogs and a cat, now just 2 dogs and a cat. Our beige carpet was in dire need of cleaning. After cleaning one room the Hoover died and I went out and bought the Bissell. It did an awesome job on the carpet we had not yet cleaned. In fact, it did so well we went back over the carpet we had cleaned with the Hoover and it came out looking much better - it looked as good as the carpet that we had only cleaned with the Bissell. From now on I recommend Bissell deep carpet cleaners to my family and friends.

I just bought this machine 2 wks ago and have used it several times as I have a new puppy. I can't believe the ease as to using the machine. It's as easy as vacuuming. I have offered to do my daughter's rugs and my parents carpets. It's actually fun to do and it's amazing how quickly you can see a difference . It's well worth the cost and will save so much money over time not to mention I can use it any time I need to and don't have to waste time waiting for a professional ...

This machine did such an amazing job on my rugs that were soiled from puppy and rabbit stains. I can't believe the wonderful job it did. I was also very happy with how my stair's came out. It was very light carpet and the ease of the machine made it easy for me to clean the soiled stairs. They came out beautiful.

I must say this is an amazing carpet cleaner! I have 2 Shih Tzus and 2 Lionhead rabbits that run around in my livingroom and they can create quite a mess! This machine flawlessly cleaned the high traffic area and the pet stains with ease! I would highly recommend this product to my friends, family, and neighbors! It is very easy to use and put together! Take the white sock challenge for yourself!

Left piles of hair behind it every where after vaccuuming with my dyso after several passes the carpet was still wet for hours. The dirty reservoir is hard to clean out because of the angle of the top. I have 2 large dogs and a cat with two young kids. I need something but this was not it

I was just about ready to order new carpeting since my previous (but not old) carpet cleaner just wasn't getting my light colored family room carpet clean. After reading ratings and reviews I decided to try a Bissell and just couldn't believe the difference. I had worked for 2 days trying to get an area clean with my previous machine. When I used my new Bissell, it looked just like new. I was even able to get stains out that had been there for a year. Thanks, Bissell, for saving me almost $1,000.00!

This steam cleaner is absolutely amazing! We were pretty close to feeling like we were going to throw away the rug we had in our living room because of pet stains...it was pretty gross. And most of the stains had been there for at least a year or two. I used the pet stain remover solution, and the stains came right up! The rug looks brand new, I couldn't be happier. I continued to use the steam cleaner throughout the rest of my house....and it did an awesome job. What an awesome machine, I will definitely be telling all of my friends and family about it!

This machine really cleans! I had a carpet company clean my carpet and they didn't get out any stains and it didn't even look clean. I bought the Lift Off Pet Deep Cleaner and the cost was about what I paid for" one" carpet cleaning from a company I previously hired to clean my carpet! This machine cleaned and dried the carpet pretty quickly; unlike the carpet company that left my carpets soaking wet for days! I had a little problem figuring out the instructions on putting it together and also cleaning the machine after using it but figured it out.It is fairly easy after I figured it out. I could not believe the dirt and grime it got out of my carpets after using it for the first time! I used the Bissell Advanced Formula 2X Spring Fresh and I am delighted with the appearance and scent of my carpet. It paid for itself the very first time I used it versus hiring a carpet cleaning company. Very pleased with the Lift-Off Pet Deep Cleaner and the Bissell cleaning products. Have already recommended it to others.

This is the best carpet cleaning machine we've ever had/used. I had a lot of deep carpet stains on the carpet in our 2003 Saturn and with the use of this machine, I was able to pull all of them out. I am completely satisfied with this product and would recommend it highly.

We have had our carpets cleaned by professionals and they have never got it as clean or been able to remove the pet stains (and we had many) as well as this machine. We have a 12 year old berber and this machine worked extremely well on it. Yes there are fuzz balls but that is expected when you don't vacuum before you use the machine. We felt the carpet dried depending on the location from 1 hour to 4 hours. We just put the fan on the moister areas. Yes you have 2 fill the tank often, however we still had the spot bot feature and it didn't make the machine heavier to use. To ensure water is hot put hot tap water in container, which speeds up the heating process. Can't say enough about this machine.

I have just one dog and he is a small pug. I keep a clean house but dog hair can be a problem. This machine works super. The two rows of bristle brushes work great on getting up the fur and pet dander. I had an older model bissell with a bladder system. This unit has two separate tanks and is much easier to dump out and rinse. I highly recommend this product

This is the third carpet cleaner we have owned and by far the very best. It even works better than a rental yard machine. We have two active dogs that like to play outside and track in dirt etc. The powered turbo brush is perfect for spot cleaning such things as muddy paw prints. Even thought the tanks are small and need to be refilled and emptied more often we do not mind as the cleaner is so efficient. Thank you for making a product that really works!

This is the third carpet cleaner I have purchased. The first two, although they worked OK - they both had design flaws in that plastic parts key to operation, broke, and replacement parts are too expensive. The new Bissell "Lift Off" worked well - we have three dogs, that will from time to time have accidents. The cleaner took care of the spots left after initial cleaning. The only down side is both the clean & dirty water tanks are rather small for carpet cleaning... I'm guessing the smaller size is necessary for the portability of the unit. So I understand the trade off. Also, the unit is very easy to clean after ... the lift-off feature makes this possible. All in all, I am pleased after one use...I hope it continues to impress.

This is the third carpet cleaner I have owned in approximately 18 years. With 3 children and a not-well-housetrained dog, I consider a carpet cleaner an essential cleaning tool. I have owned this cleaner for about a month--cleaned my first two rooms in that time. Overall I am happy with the cleaner--it is easy to fill and empty the tanks. The water heater helps get really hot water into the carpet. It is an easy to use cleaner.
Two drawbacks-- The lift off unit is relatively high compared to my old cleaner, thus the machine does not fit under beds without being used as a handheld. The bigger issue was that when the machine stopped, it "dripped" dirty water back onto the carpet. I discoverd this while doing my bedroom. Luckily I had taken the machine into my bathroom where it left a puddle of dirty water on my tile floor. From there on, I just made sure I stopped the cleaner on my tile floor where I could use a towel to clean up the dirty water. In the second room, I kept an old towel just outside the room I was cleaning and stopped the machine on that towel to again "soak up" the dirty water. DO NOT stop the machine on the carpet you are cleaning. Dirty water drips back out.

I used the Bissell Lift off Pet Deep Cleaner on my carpet and the carpet in my parent's house and my brother's large rugs. They were all happy to see cleaner rugs in their homes. My carpet is 20 years old and is very dirty and is now less dirty after using the Bissell. I know it has cleaned the carpet because I can definitely see the difference after using the cleaner. The carpet is still dirty with the ground in dirt but I don't expect the dirt to be completely removed after one cleaning but I did not expect to see striping or splotch marks in the carpet where it seem to be extra clean. I am not sure if it is caused by the Bissell or the lack of experience of the operator. I will call the manufacturer to see if I am doing anything wrong. The same streakiness happened at my parents' house also. I do like the machine but it will take time to get used to it and to operate it properly. It takes a bit of an effort to clean the machine each time we used it. All in all I am satisfied with it.

The Lift Off Pet Deep Cleaner has been a great tool for us so far, we have only used it once - on a bedroom carpet that our x-large dog had an x-large accident on (the entire reason for the purchase) and on a living room carpet rug that just needed to be cleaned due to heavy traffic. We put the carpet rug on the porch outside to clean due to hardwood floors underneath and it worked great. It actually worked great on both different types of carpet, installed and a floor rug. Cleaning the machine after was not that bad, although you did have to take it apart to clean it good & allow it to dry before reassembling. I have not used it seperated from the base yet but I will as I have a carpeted staircase that needs to be done along with 2 other bedrooms and an extra large bonus room that need a general cleaning (very little upstairs use so carpets are not soiled or stained with very little traffic), just waiting for warmer weather to tackle so the carpet will dry faster. Crossing my fingers that this Bissell will be a long lasting family friend that will help out when in need.....a little on the pricy side so it better! Again Great Tool so far!

I bought this carpet machine to clean up carpet stains,I havea large pet and it gets the carpet and stairs very dirty. this machine works great.and the carpet cleaner has a nice smell to it.
