Let me start by saying I was skeptical at first even though I read the great reviews. Well skepticism has left the building!!! I have a 17 year old carpet that is so beastly you would have to pay me a million dollars to walk barefoot on it. Well today is payday; my carpet looks so good I just can't believe my eyes. My whole town house is carpet except for the kitchen, wash room and bathrooms. It was so bad I never turned on the lights at night because I was afraid to look at my carpet. It really is a ecru color and not brown! The amount of dirt and black particles it pulled from the carpet was incredible. It even left the carpet fluffy, smelling great and looking brand spanking new. Old pepsi cola stains gone! Make-up stains gone! Urine stains from the dog gone! Weird smell gone! Old food spills gone! Unappealing appearance gone! Bissell let me tell ya, you had me the moment I turned the machine on. Easy assembly, easy use and worth money hard earned money. The only thing I would recommend is adding a side rotating bristle(s). This will allow you to get in between the crevices where the carpet meets the wall so the dirt that gets pushed to the wall can also be cleaned up. A+++

My husband and I finally broke down and bought a carpet cleaning machine after researching for a few months and I have to say that this cleaner has far surpassed my expectations with how quickly and effectively it has cleaned my carpet. My carpet is 7-8 years old and I had never deep-cleaned it (I know, really gross) and I just can't get over how much better it looks. It practically looks and feels like new again. I love that the unit keeps the clean solution hot while you work and that the dirty water tank is twice the size as the clean tank so you only have to dump it every other fill-up. The clean tank is small, but not any smaller than I had expected and I was still able to get a good deal cleaned before I had to refill. I have frieze carpeting, so I did a couple extra sweeps to make sure I had all the water pulled up and found that it wasn't really necessary to do that after some experimenting. Also, I am recovering from 2 back surgeries (7 months ago) and have not had any trouble maneuvering the machine around, cleaning, or emptying/filling the tanks. That alone has made this purchase worth every penny we paid for it!

First I want to start out saying I love how well this carpet cleaner cleans as the portable spot remover. However, for some reason when I put it back together as an upright deep cleaner I am unable to even get mine to spray... I know it's fully attached it just doesn't do anything in an upright position

I bought the Bissell Pro-Heat Lift-Off PET. In the "PRO" section I would say it did a good job of cleaning in the open spaces. I like that it kept the water hot.
Unfortunately in the "CONS" section there are several issues.
First I bought this because I have a dog. He is indoor/outdoor dog, and like most all dogs he sheds. I bought the machine primarily for deep cleaning, including, of course, pet hair. Unfortunately the machine did not pull the hair into the dirty tank. It did pull up a lot of hair which began forming wet clumps that would stick to the flat bottom of the machine until they got wet/heavy enough to fall or scrape off the bottom onto the carpet. I spent an amazing amount of time picking up clumps of wet hair.
Second, the machine is surprisingly heavy when in use. I cleaned the family room and 1 bedroom and it was really a very physical activity.
Third, when using the spot cleaning tools/lift off tank there seems to be little or no suction thru the tool head(s).
Lastly, no matter how you angle it, there will always be 1 ½ to 2 inches of carpet not cleaned around the edges. You can, or course, use the lift off tank and special tools, but again if they have little or no suction all you will have is a wet carpet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brandy Oh my gosh!
We have 2 huskies, 6 cats, 2 kids, and 17 year old carpet. Needless to say I only expected the cleaner to pull up fresh stains and maybe possibly pacify me until we can afford hardwoods. I was so pleasantly surprised. This beast cleaned stains that were here when we bought the place 5 years ago. It cleaned stuff I never ever expected. I've never been so happy in my life. My carpet looks BRAND NEW. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!!!

Not quite sure where all the great reviews are coming from, altho I love the beater bar for scrubbing, I find the suction is horrible. I've called the company when I first used it, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, unfortunately that's how its built. I recently cleaned my carpet I had to go over it 4 times to get it somewhat clean the machine just doesn't have the suction to get all the dirty water out & left the carpet soaked.

I am a fan of Bissell carpet cleaners. I have a Little Green pro heat for pets that has performed very well (though the nozzles break easily).
I have a concern with this DeepClean Lift-Off Pet cleaner though. I have used as many as 5 full containers of cleaning water before the dirty water tank became full. This tells me the water is still in the carpet or the pad, neither of which are good.
I have now moved to another house and had new Stainmaster carpet and waterproof padding installed. When using the upright handle it does not work properly. Separate it works like a regular Little Green cleaner as long as you dont set it on the carpeted floor. This interferes with the air flow.

We bought this cleaner today. Did the section of carpet that needed it. By the time we were done (15 min) the machine smelled hot! Is this normal ??? Also, our brand new machine had NO user guide in the box! I had to go online to figure out how to use it!!!!
