I ordered this Bissell because of previous reviews and having a pet attachment. This cleaner's suction power compares to my old Dyson and it comes apart easily and is easy to clean. I could not believe how quiet it is compared to my old Dyson and Sears heavy canister vacuum. The brush on and off lever is very convenient as well as the cord rewind. The length of the cord is great! I find the option to change height levels works well when going from carpet to laminate to tile! Superb cleaning power!

I am very pleased with how much this vacuum cleaner picks up. We have 2 dogs and a cat and I could not believe how much dirt, dander and pet hair get picked up into the dirt cup. The pet attachment does a great job as well. I have both carpet and hardwood floors and this vacuum picks up well on both. It is a little heavy pushing on the thick carpet, but that does not bother me, I feel like I am getting an arm work out and that is a good thing. I love the fact that the dirt cup container is so easy to remove and empty. I really love this vacuum and plan to have it around for a long time, so I have already ordered extra filters and belts and will keep it maintained properly. I highly recommend this to anyone with pets or without.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AV Welcome addition to my home!
The suction power on this is phenomenal, I feel like it does a great job picking up dirt, dust, and hair! The canister is easy to empty, and I haven't yet had it signal losing suction for any reason. Most of the vacuuming I do is on carpets, but the ability to shut off the brush to go over bare floors is incredibly useful, and I use it on those as well! The vacuum itself is a bit on the heavy side, though after using it for a while it becomes much easier to push. The retractable cord is also a nice feature, makes it easy to keep under control while going back and forth over an area.
The only (small!) critique I have is that the foot pedal to lean the vacuum backwards requires being hit twice in order to go all the way down- pushing it once allows most of the range of motion, then it has to be pushed again if you're vacuuming underneath low furniture and need it to lean all the way back. Not a major issue by any means, though I would prefer if it wasn't one at all!

After renting the Pawsitivity Carpet Cleaner I emailed Bissell and asked for recommendations for a vacuum that would have the same characteristics. It lives up to the recommendation...it got more dog hair up than my old, supposed to pick up every pet hair, other company. Am quite happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Caringfor3furbabies This vacuum sucks...and I mean that in a good way:)
I knew I had pet hair but I didn't know how much was left in my carpet from my old vacuum. I love the easy cord rewind, my old one you had to wrap around and after awhile the cord was becoming exposed. It is messy to clean out the dirt cup but with the job it does I can live with rinsing out the inside parts. Beware if you leave a cat toy on the floor, I thought it would just push it forward and it sucked it up. Like I said this machine sucks:)

Rated 3 out of 5 by dogmomma Pick-up great - Emptying is Messy
I thought we had made a good purchase with the sweeper. We have 3 dogs, so pet hairs are every where. It picks up pet hair great! It is the dust that falls when you remove the canister to empty it. Yes, my filter is clean (was just replaced at a cost of about ten dollars (Febreeze filter).
The messiness makes me wonder if I made a good investment. I have to wash the canister and "wind tunnel" with clear water each time I use it, or it clogs up. I empty the vacuum frequently before it gets to the "full" line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sam K Purchasing this vacuum was one of my better ideas
This vacuum really cleans!! I could not believe what came out of my carpet when I first used it throughout the house. I have a long-haired cat and a dog so I vacuum 6 out of 7 days a week. I knew my vac was not doing a great job although I had just purchased it about 6 months ago. Because of Bissell's support of pet rescue organizations, I decided to try their product. The canister is easy to empty and clean so no more dirty bags either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michigan Lady LOVE THIS MACHINE!
I recently remodeled my home complete with new carpet and new bamboo flooring. The vacuum cleaner I had was doing okay, but wanted something that could pick up much better and would be able to sweep the hard wood floor with. Oh, and did I mention I also have 2 dogs and 8 cats? So something that would hold up to all that hair and dust was an absolute must. I saw this model at Lowe's, and the one thing that I really liked about it was being able to shut off the brushes for the hardwood floor. I looked at a few other models, including the one just above this one, (which btw is removable from the base, but I don't have stairs, couldn't see the need) and couldn't find anything near what this one was.
So, I brought it home. It was quite easy to put together, and I was sweeping with in in a matter of minutes. I was quite impressed as to how much dirt it pulled up in a short amount of time. I'm a little disappointed with how small the cup is that holds the dirt and the shortness of the hose, but, if it does the job over the long haul, I'm okay with it. My older carpets looked much better after sweeping with this machine, and it wasn't as incline to pull up threads of one of the carpets I have. Using it on my hardwood floor was easy. With the brushes shut off, no kickback of dirt or debris, and the glides on the bottom made it move effortlessly on the floor.
Next was the pet brush. Wow. I was impressed. It did take a bit of doing due to the amount of hair from my pets, but it did a fabulous job. I was very pleased with the performance of it. It varied with the amount of pressure because of the amount of hair and the curve of the furniture, but still a great job. Overall, I am ecstatic about this machine and would recommend it to anyone.
