My cat decided to mark her territory on my carpet. I immediately used spot cleaner on the stain, then my BISSELL deep cleaner. The smell seems to have intensified. What can I do?

Answer: Deep cleaning is supposed to remove stains and odors – certainly not make them worse! Sometimes when carpet gets too wet, more odor-causing bacteria can be produced instead of less. This can be prevented by making sure you do a backward dry pass with your deep cleaner after each wet forward pass. Setting a fan near the area to quickly dry any leftover moisture in the carpet will also help prevent odor.
