Should you use cold water on pet stains first? Have been told that hot water will set the odor?

Answer: Good question – this is actually not true. In fact, if you are looking for the scientific explanation; hot water under 150 °F will not set an odor. Furthermore, carpet manufacturers do not recommend using water temperatures over 150 °F on your carpet, as it could lead to damaged carpet fibers.

All of our BISSELL formulas are designed to be effective with any temperature water. I would recommend using Pet Stain and Odor formula in any of our portable carpet cleaners or 2X Pet Stain & Odor Advanced Formula Plus with a BISSELL upright carpet cleaner such as a ProHeat 2X.

For difficult pet stains and odors, use an enzyme product such as Pet Stain & Odor Pre-treat for Carpet & Upholstery - carefully following use instructions for best results.
