Could you imagine having to boil water before you drink it? Today, hundreds
of bottled water distributors supply us with clean, filtered water saving
us the time and hassle. Attempts to purify water date all the way back
to 2000 B.C. The first methods include boiling or placing hot metal
objects into the water, followed by filtering it through crude sand
or charcoal filters (Baker & Taras, 1981). Even back in 2000 B.C. people
wanted purified water because it tasted better, and good tasting water
is associated with clean water. Today filtering water is easy and convenient,
thanks to new and improved technology.
