Refrigerator
- If
your refrigerator supplies ice or cold water, check the
water line for leaks by looking behind with a bright light.
- Keep
refrigerator coils dust free by vacuuming them periodically
with a suitable attachment.
- Pick
one day a week to check the age of the food in your fridge.
Keep this day and time in your schedule to check on a
weekly basis (preferably before the weekly trip to the
supermarket).
Stove
- Use
stove exhaust fans while cooking.
Cleaning
- Create
a homemade all-purpose cleaning solution by mixing: 1
tbsp ammonia, 1 tbsp liquid detergent, and 2 cups of water.
User to clean countertops and sinks. Dry with a soft cloth.
- Make
sure to clean sponges and dish rags daily. You can eliminate
odor and kill bacteria on sponges if you soak in diluted
ammonia.
- Never
mix bleach with ammonia; this creates chloramine, a toxic
gas.
- Vacuum/sweep
at least once a day to remove any food particles that
have fallen on the floor. This can be a prime “hunting
ground” for roaches and ants during the night time if
not cleaned frequently.
