Grace in Minnesota: A Little Grace
Rebecca Grahn was lost, not in the physical sense, but emotionally. Her husband died of a sudden heart attack in May, and then her solace--her dachshund--succumbed to cancer in September.

Nikko in New Jersey: Golden Oldie
Nikko was sad and depressed, and no wonder. The dog had been with one family his entire life, but then the parents in the family moved back to India, leaving him with their son. The young man's job began to require more and more travel, and he didn't think it was fair to Nikko, so he surrendered the dog to Paws to Love Adoption in New York City. He cried when the time came to say goodbye to his long-time friend.

Montana in Georgia: Ditched!
Montana and her two siblings were ditched, literally, beside a road in Georgia. The abandoned litter was taken to the Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County where they were treated for mange and malnutrition. Montana was diagnosed with parvovirus as well and was placed in isolation. Fortunately, she survived.

Job in New Jersey: A Ray of Hope
Job seemed an appropriate name for the blond Cocker Spaniel that Ray Matyckas of Warren, N.J., adopted. In his previous home, the dog had been abused so much he had lost the sight in one eye, was underweight and suffered from seizures. In other words, he'd had his share of troubles.
