My ProSeries Carpet Cleaner drags on the carpet and is hard to push. What should I check?

Answer:  Your carpet cleaner will drag or be difficult to push if either the front floor nozzle or the semicircular window (if you have one) is out of alignment.

1. Check the floor nozzle window to ensure it is screwed down properly. If there is a ¼” gap between the front window and where it wraps around and meets the base, unscrew and reinstall the window.

a. This gap can be eliminated by installing the tabs at the top of the window.  Once the window is unscrewed, look at the top of the window (above the BISSELL® logo). Past the foam rimmed opening, there should be two tabs. Make sure those tabs are securely hooked into the slots in the base.

b. Make sure the screws are tightened securely. 

c. Check again and see that there is no gap between window and where it meets the base on the sides.

 

2. If there is no gap on the floor nozzle window, then the “half-moon” window right beneath it may be out of alignment. If you remove the floor nozzle window, there’s another half-moon shaped clear window that the nozzle window sits on. The floor nozzle window (front) should be lower to the floor then the half-moon window (back). Check that the half-moon window is in alignment.

a. You can unscrew the half-moon window by first removing both tanks. Then, turn the cleaner over and expose its underside. Take a Philips head screwdriver and Turn the unit over, exposing the underside of the unit.

b. With Phillips head screw driver, remove two screws on each side of the half-moon window, just past the brush roll. If you need more help to remove the half-moon window, see our picture-packed FAQ called “ProSeries Half Moon Window”

c. Once the window is removed, install window again. Make sure you put the window back in such a way that the bottom is behind the front floor nozzle window by at least 1/8th inch.
