My ProSeries Carpet Cleaner is continuously spraying. What should I check?

Answer: First, let's see where your carpet cleaner is continuously spraying. If it sprays constantly at the floor, start below. If it sprays constantly at the hose attachment, scroll down to the matching heading for the troubleshooting you're looking for.

1. Let’s start by removing the handle. You’ll need to remove the two screws in the front handle, which will let the handle lift off. Some plastic that had been inserted in the handle will be jutting up. Inside this is a square white button. With your finger or a pen, push it and check the spray.  If the machine is no longer continuously spraying, a new handle may be needed. You can order a new handle by clicking here: http://www.bissell.com/parts/

2. If your cleaner still continuously sprays with the handle off, at this point it might be best to take your carpet cleaner to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/ or by calling 1-800-237-7691, available 24 hours a day.

Start here if your carpet cleaner is continuously spraying from the hose attachment:

1. Take a look at your trigger. On the trigger there should be a “V” shaped raised area. The top of the V should point toward the attachment. The bottom of the V should point toward the hose. The picture below shows how it should look. If it’s not properly installed, unscrew the 4 screws and flip the trigger to face the proper direction like above.
