My AeroSwift® Vacuum has low or no suction. How can I fix it?

Answer:
  • Just to be safe, unplug the machine and make sure the hose is not in the hole in the end of the handle wand and it is attached to the lower hose.

AeroSwift correct hose placement

  • Make sure you have the height adjustment set to the proper setting for the type of carpet you are vacuuming.
  • Make sure the Easy Empty dirt tank is installed properly and locked into place.

AeroSwift Empty bin

  • Make sure the dirt cup is empty.
    • Remove the dirt cup by pushing on the “Push for Tank” button located right in front of the handle.
    • Once released, push on the “Push to Empty Bin” button located on the back of the Dirt container to release dirt and debris into the garbage.

  • Plug your machine in and check the end of the hose for suction.  If there is no suction, turn the power off and unplug the machine.  Check the hose for clogs by removing the hose from where the hose enters the machine and from the lower hose.  Push a broomstick through the entire length of the hose to clear any clogs.  Note: A coat hanger is not recommended to clear a clog, it may damage the hose and not clear all the debris. Reattach the hose, plug the machine in, turn it on and check for suction again at the end of the hose.
  • Look through the clear lower hose.  If any obstructions are present, unscrew the screw just left of the lower hose, straighten out and push broomstick through to clear any obstructions. Note: A coat hanger is not recommended to clear a clog, it may damage the hose and not clear all the debris.
  • Check the foam filter (regular filter is yellow, the Febreze® filter is black) located in the lower filter tray and clear out any dirt and debris before vacuuming.  Wash with cold water or replace as needed.  Allow the filter to completely air dry before putting it back into the machine.

  • Unplug the machine and make sure the Upper Tank and Inner Cyclone are clear of any debris.
    • Remove the tank by pushing on the “Push for Tank” button located right in front of the handle.
    • Grasp the carry handle and base of the dirt cup sliding from the lock to the unlock position so the arrow on the dirt cup lines up with the unlock symbol. (Turning carry handle left to right).

    • There is a dark gray rubber seal surrounding the cyclone base and the cap.  Make sure there is no ripping or damage to the seal.  Do not remove the seal.  If the seal is damaged, the cap for the dirt bin assembly will need to be replaced (Part number 160-0312).  Please call 1-800-237-7691 if you need to replace this part.  A Consultant will be happy to place an order for you.

    • Once the upper tank is put back on the dirt bin and locked back into place (moving right to left) so the arrow on the dirt bin lines up with the lock arrow, and the foam filter tray (with dry filter) is put back into the machine, plug the machine in, turn the power on and try for suction.  If you still have no suction proceed as follows:

  • Look at the brush, does it turn?  If it is not turning, remove the three screws in the brush cover using a Phillips screwdriver.  Lift up and remove the brush cover to access the brush roll.  Clear any hair, strings, or debris from the brush and motor pulley area.

  • Check the belt to make sure it is not broken or stretched out.  If so, a new belt will be needed.  Please call 1-800-237-7691 to order a belt.

Please take the machine to a BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have a technician check it. You can locate one by clicking here:  http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/.
