There's steam coming from a hole in my PowerFresh® Steam Mop. Is this normal?
Answer: This hole is a pressure relief valve. The valve, on the back of the mop, is designed to release steam if something is blocking the steam path inside the unit. Be careful—this area may be hot!
1) Remove the mop-head and check for steam at the spray tip by taking off the foot of the unit and aiming the spray end in the sink or tub. Don’t put any body parts near the end of the unit when checking for steam.
2) If there’s no steam with the mop head removed, unplug the mop and let it cool for 5 minutes. Clean the spray tip with a paperclip. If that doesn’t work, please call us at 1-800-237-7691, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., or Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET. 3) If there is steam, the mop head is most likely clogged. With a tooth pick, clear out each individual hole (4 in total) as well as the part that inserts into the unit. Then, pour white vinegar through the top of the mop head. Clear the vinegar out of the mop head by running warm water through it. Finally, reattach the mop head to the unit and repeat step 1. Never put vinegar or other chemicals into the water tank.
