Why does the Clean Filter Indicator stay red on my vacuum?

Answer: The Clean Filter Indicator will remain red if there is reduced airflow. To increase the airflow, check the Upper-Tank, Pre and Post-Motor filters for debris. Clean if necessary. The black filters can be washed in warm water and mild detergent. Ensure they are completely dry prior to using again. Check for clogs in the upper hose by detaching the hose from the back and inserting a broom stick handle into the hose to push any obstruction through to the opposite end. Also, check for clogs in the lower hose by removing the screw which attaches it and straightening this hose in order to relieve it of any dirt and debris. Using a broomstick handle, push any dirt and debris through and remove it. If the indicator continues to remain red, please take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center. To locate your nearest BISSELL Authorized Service Center, go to the BISSELL Homepage at: http://www.bissell.com. Select the "Customer Service" tab at the top of the page and then select "Service Centers" from the drop down menu. Enter your zip code to perform your search. You can also locate a Service Center by phone, 24 hours a day, by calling 1-800-237-7691 and choosing option #1.
