Can I throw away the EPC tag once I buy the product?

Answer: You may dispose of the EPC tag just as you would any other label or tag once you have purchased the product. Products with an EPC tag are not tracked outside of the retail establishment where the product was purchased. The EPC tag only contains the unique product identification code which is used for inventory management purposes.
