BISSELL® Multi Reach™ Cordless Vacuum Recall

In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, BISSELL is voluntarily recalling its Multi Reach™ Cordless Vacuum. The affected products sold in the U.S. and Canada are models 1985, 19851 (also called Multi Auto), 19859, 1985T, 1985C, 2151, 21512, 21513, 21517, 21518, 21519, 2151A, 2151C, 2151T, 2151W, 2151V during August 2016 through December 2022. BISSELL has spent 147 years producing quality products that consumers can trust. We are proud to have sold millions of vacuums across the world. Above all else, safety is our top priority.

If you own one of the models subject to this voluntary recall, we kindly ask that you:

Step 1. Stop using the vacuum immediately. Search for the model number by removing the dirt tank. The number will be listed on a large black bar on the product information sticker. If your unit is subject to the recall, please take a photo of the product information sticker, and go to step 2.

Step 2.  Deplete the battery by removing the attachments from the hand vac portion and turning on the machine until it stops on its own. This should only take approximately 20 minutes or less. Remove the battery from the vacuum—press on the side buttons and pull.

Step 3. Fill out the form at the bottom of the Multi Reach™ Cordless Vacuum Recall page or contact BISSELL in order to request your free new replacement vacuum.

Step 4. Once you have received your replacement unit, please dispose of the battery and the Multi Reach™ cordless vacuum. Do not dispose of your battery or vacuum before receiving your replacement.

All batteries need to be disposed of in accordance with local and state regulations.

Do not put lithium-ion batteries in the trash or battery recycling boxes found at home improvement stores. They can cause fires and explosions if they are damaged or crushed and are a hazard when thrown in the trash.

Consumers can receive a new stick vacuum to replace this affected model, at no additional cost, by filling out the form below. You will need to provide the photo of your product information sticker, attest that you will properly dispose of the battery, and provide your shipping information for the replacement unit.
